Envisioning My Future: Home Safety and Preparing for Emergencies - In person, Indoors

When: Friday, February 6th, 2026, from 9:30 AM until 3:30 PM.
Where: PCC Opportunity Center, 4299 NE Killingsworth St, Portland OR 97218 [Click on the Google Map icon (below) for the event location.] Parking is at a premium. Please carpool and allow a few minutes extra to park.
Who: This free event is for Villages NW villagers (members, volunteers and interested parties).

Lunch: A free lunch will be provided by PCC Dining Services.
Description: Please join us for this two-part event as we focus on Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls and Emergency Preparedness. Exhibitors/Tablers will be present with resource materials
In the morning we will hear from Elaine Nelson of Village Without Walls about the Aging in Place Toolkit developed for their Village members by occupational therapy students at Pacific University. Lupine DeSnyder from Refit Portland will talk about home improvements that enhance safety and Kabir Bhatia will update us on the Hello Everyday Program in our Villages.
The afternoon will feature Jonathan Tasini, City of Portland Office of Emergency Preparedness, and Jodi Blackwood, Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency (CRESA), giving tips on how to prepare for emergencies – both when you need to shelter at home and what to do when you need to evacuate.
