Dumpster Day 2025 - Hosted by PDX Bureau or Planning & Sustanability
When: Saturday, May 10, 2025, 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM, or until the dumpsters are full.
Where: St Luke Lutheran Church, 4595 SW California St, Portland 97219. Turn West onto SW California St
from SW 45th Ave; the line forms from the East. [Click on the Google Map icon (below) for the event location.]
Who: The dumpster day is intended for residents of Multnomah, Hillsdale, Ashcreek and Crestwood
neighborhoods.
Description: The Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability is hosting neighborhood events around
the city where people who live in the area can get rid of large, bulky trash items for no charge.
What you can dump: For garbage dumpsters:
- Mattresses*, box springs, and bed frames
- Furniture (couch, table, chair)
- Small appliances (toaster, vacuum, etc.)
- Treated lumber & wood stumps
- Microwaves*
- Other large items that are too large to fit in your curbside garbage container
* Mattresses and microwaves will be recycled.
What you CAN'T bring:
- Bags of trash
- Tires
- TVs & other electronics
- Appliances with freon (air conditioners, refrigerators, and freezers)
- Construction materials (except for wood)
- Batteries
- Paint
- Propane tanks
- Chemicals (pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, poisons, antifreeze, thinners & solvents, household cleaners)
- CFL light bulbs
- Car brakes and linings
- Yard waste (grass, leaves, branches)
For donation: If you have household items in good, working condition (no broken or missing parts),
especially furniture, those items they may be collected by other local nonprofits, such as the Community
Warehouse to give to community members who need them. See info at: https://communitywarehouse.org
